OASIS Community Partners

New York State Capital Region OASIS partners with the following community organizations by holding classes and other events at these sites.  We thank our partners for their commitment to lifelong learning in the Capital Region.

  • Albany Institute of History and Art -125 Washington Avenue, Albany, is one of the oldest museums in the United States, dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting and promoting interest in the history,, art and culture of Albany and the Upper Hudson Valley.
  • Albany Public Library - 161 Washington Avenue (new partner in 2009).  Brain Games being offered as part of the library’s Fit for Life program.
  • Avila Retirement Community – an independent retirement community in Albany, New York (128 apartments, 24 cottages and many amenities including a Great Room, dining room, fitness center, swimming pool, landscaped gardens, etc.).
  • Duanesburg Area Community Center – located at 221 Victoria Drive, Delanson, NY, the Community Center has two groups of older adults who meet regularly; they number approximately 150 at the present time.  Technology and Cognitive Enrichment classes held at this site.
  • Emeritus Center, University at Albanya gathering place for UAlbany retired faculty and professionals designed to facilitate and promote interdisciplinary scholarship.  NYS Capital Region OASIS frequently uses Emeriti faculty as speakers for its programs, and several also sit on key OASIS committees.  Two to three small meeting rooms are also available for OASIS committee meetings at no charge.
  • Guilderland Public Library – located in the Town of Guilderland, New York.  OASIS has held a film series, literature series and yoga classes at this site.
  • NYS Museum – the New York State Museum is a major research and educational institution.  It is dedicated to promoting inquiry and advancing knowledge in the fields of geology, biology, anthropology, and history, through the investigation of material evidence germane to New York State’s past, present and future.  The Museum shares this knowledge through exhibits and other means with wide and diverse audiences.  It encourages these audiences to take delight in learning by participating in the discovery process central to its work.
  • ITT-Technical Institute – an institute of higher learning with a focus on fields involving technology, criminal justice, and business.  There are over 85 campuses nationwide, with one conveniently located in Albany, New York
  • Schenectady Museum & Suits-Bueche Planetarium(new partner in 2009) – 15 Nott Terrace Heights, Schenectady, NY, offers programs for all ages.  The Museum fulfills its mission by preserving & interpreting the history of technological change and its impact on society.
  • Senior Services of Albany (SSA) – SSA provides transportation and nutrition services, caregiver support, ElderSource Line (our information Hotline), adult day care, trips, classes, health promotion and wellness programs, and community events to enhance the quality of life and foster independence for families and caregivers in Albany County.
  • Shaker Site – the Shaker Site is adjacent to the Albany International Airport, and is located on the grounds of the Ann Lee Home.  This is the site of America’s first Shaker settlement.  Educational programs for all ages are offered on an ongoing basis.
  • Siena Research Institute (new partner in 2009) – Siena College, Loudonville, NY, the Research Institute is a full-service public opinion research center that assists policymakers, business leaders, and civic organizations to gather and understand information for strategic planning.
  • Townsend Park Apartments – a low income housing unit located in the West Hill neighborhood of Albany, New York.  The president of the neighborhood association solicits the help of resident volunteers to patrol and keep the area safe, and also works with various community organizations to bring educational and health promotion activities to Townsend Park.
  • UAlbany Performing Arts Centera spectacular facility on the University at Albany’s main campus, boasting five unique performance spaces. Known to locals at “The PAC.”
