  • ExcelleShare: A Handbook on Capacity Building Volunteering
    ExcelleShare is a Center for Excellence in Aging Services (“Center”) program, created in 2007 to promote capacity building volunteering—i.e., volunteer opportunities that utilize highly skilled retirement aged adults to advance the community’s civic engagement agenda and improve the capacity of local not-for-profits in the Capital Region to better serve their constituencies. This handbook contains the “lessons learned” from the ongoing project and offers pointers on how to incorporate capacity building volunteers in your organization.
  • Active Generations Featured in the AARP Bulletin: Fighting Childhood Obesity
    “Fighting Childhood Obesity,” published in the January AARP Bulletin, features the OASIS-sponsored program Active Generations and three volunteers from the Albany area. Active Generations is an intergenerational afterschool program designed to curb obesity by teaching children in third through fifth grades about healthy nutrition and exercise.
